Ah, the power of a clean air filter

This weekend I left a nice, super-cooled room to come home to a gasping air conditioner. It ran and ran and ran, but the temperature kept rising in the house despite its efforts. Finally, we gave up on it entirely and went back to good old-fashioned open windows. The weekend ended, and so we called management to see if they could solve our A/C issues. And, they did, very quickly, too: air filters make a big difference. The one they took out had been in for 15 months, and the filter itself was barely visible under the caked-on dust. With the new filter in place, we're all cool and comfortable again right in our own home. Amazing how just one little component makes such a big difference to the whole system.
